The Problems: (Why you need us)
Knowledge - As a merchant you have been kept in the dark as to the options you have in controlling and lowering your credit card processing costs. Most Member Service Providers (MSP) not only enjoy this situation but encourage it with mis-information or no information at all because they gain extra profit at your expense when your transactions are processed at a higher rate than what they could have qualified for.
Confusing statements- To further confuse matters, most merchant statement formats are next to impossible to understand, and more often than not, don't disclose all pricing information. An example would be, a statement format showing "tiered pricing" i.e., "Mid-Qualified" - "Non-Qualified" which makes it virtually impossible for your transactions to qualify at the lowest possible rates.
Account Management- When was the last time your account representative for your current MSP called you? Do you know their name? When have they taken the time to assist you with a reconciliation problem or taught you how to minimize chargeback risks? When you last called for technical support how long were you kept on hold? Have you ever questioned something and were told "that's just how it is" or "that's Visa, not us"?
Has your current account representative ever offered to monitor how your transactions are qualifying to see if improvements can be made? Even if you are already getting "pass through" on Interchange there are many expensive Interchange categories that are avoidable with the proper knowledge in hand. A few "red flag" categories you may see on your merchant statement would include- "Standard" - "Corporate Standard" - "Data Rate I" - "Missing/Invalid Tran ID" to name just a few. |
